Here's an interesting article from Inside Higher Ed that explains why one blogger thinks many academic group blogs fail, that is, why what he calls "quasi-institutionalized" blogging tends to silence discussion. Thanks for sharing! I had thought about the hierarchical nature of blogs, but I hadn't considered how decentralized conversations happening across many blogs might yield better results than those taking place in only one space. This will certainly inform how I approach blogging in my classroom next semester.
